AOL mail delivery delays (resolved)

Update 5:00 PM December 27: AOL has resolved the problem described below. All delayed mail has been delivered, and all services are operating normally.

Original post December 27, 2013: The aol.com mail servers are having technical problems that are delaying some mail sent to them. This problem began yesterday morning and was initially resolved last night (when they accepted all queued mail), but is happening again this morning. It appears they’re having trouble delivering mail during busier periods.

This is caused by a problem on the AOL end that AOL is aware of and that other people are also reporting, and is not related to our customers or our servers.

Our systems will automatically keep trying to deliver mail to addresses @aol.com until it works: we will not return or discard any mail.

(We’ll update this post when AOL accepts the backlog of queued mail from our servers.)
