Price change in September 2016

Effective September 1, 2016, the price of our “Silver Hosting” and “Basic Hosting / Gold Hosting” plans for existing customers will increase by $1.00 per month.

(The “Plus Hosting”, “Business Hosting” and “Add-On Hosting” plan prices will not change. New customers are already paying the new rates, as shown on our plans page.)

This will not affect all customers immediately. If you prepay annually for hosting, the price change won’t take effect until your current prepayment is used up, which will be sometime between September 2016 and August 2017. In addition, if you’ve opened an account with us in the last two years, the price increase won’t take effect until you’ve been with us a full two years, even if you’re paying month-to-month.

We’ll directly notify each affected customer by e-mail before any price increase takes effect, of course.

How can I save money?

If you’ve been paying monthly, you might consider switching to annual prepayment before September 1. Switching to annual prepayment saves you $1.00 per month.

Why increase prices?

The last time we raised prices for existing customers was seven years ago, in 2009. Like any business, we sometimes have to raise prices to cover increased expenses due to inflation.

Some of our large competitors recently raised prices for existing customers by $2.00 per month, but we’re trying hard to limit the increase for now.

Other competitors have added separate fees for domain names, backups, WHOIS privacy, statistics, phone support, security protection, SSL certificates, and so on. We don’t want to do business that way. We’re trying to continue our philosophy of no hidden charges, of high quality support, and of allowing customers to pay monthly if they wish with no long-term commitments. We believe that our hosting service remains a good value, and we’ll do everything we can to keep it that way.

Thank you

As one of the few remaining independent companies that’s been in this industry for more than 16 years, we appreciate the business of every one of our customers. We wouldn’t be here without you.
