web11 server outage March 4, 2015 (resolved)

On March 4, the “web11” server spontaneously rebooted at around 11:50 AM and again at around 1:45 PM, causing brief outages each time.

Our technicians determined that there was a problem with the physical hardware of the server, so we scheduled emergency maintenance to replace it at 6 PM Pacific time. We successfully replaced the server hardware at that time, although this caused another outage of approximately 10 minutes.

The server is now running normally. No further maintenance or outage is expected.

Other servers were not affected.

We sincerely apologize to our customers affected by this problem. We don’t consider it normal or acceptable, and we strive to avoid problems like this.
