WordPress 3.7.1
WordPress 3.7.1 was recently released, and as always, we’ve updated our WordPress one-click installer to automatically install the latest version for new WordPress sites.
If you’ve previously installed a version of WordPress earlier than 3.7, you should update it from within your WordPress Dashboard.
The 3.7 series of WordPress introduces a feature that automatically applies security updates and bug fixes without you needing to take any action at all — as the WordPress authors put it, you get “updates while you sleep”. It’s a great new feature.

I don’t agree with the automatic update to be such a great feature – just consider the scenario that your theme or some plugins are not yet updated – so what happens?
Functionality can be wiped out – some stuff isn’t working anymore – there are many situations, which history taught us that silent updates are not that great.
Such as : paging was not working anymore – categories turned into a salad bowl after the update.
When you have a shop based on WordPress this can cost you money and produces frustrated customers!

WordPress only does minor bug fix and security related updates automatically. It doesn’t automatically do major updates that may have compatibility problems.
So, for example, it could automatically update to a future version 3.7.2 to improve security, but it won’t automatically update to version 3.8 that has new features and potential compatibility issues.
