Brief scheduled maintenance on “fry” and “bender” servers (completed)

The “fry” and “bender” Web servers will be restarted between 11:00 and 11:15 PM Pacific time tonight (Friday, April 29, 2011). This will cause a five-minute interruption of Web and e-mail service for customers on those servers.

Other servers will not be affected, and incoming mail will only be delayed, not lost.

This is necessary to replace hardware on the “fry” server that we suspect may have caused a problem earlier this week, and to solve a memory problem on the “bender” server causing occasional slower-than-we’d-like performance.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes.

Update: The maintenance was successfully completed with less than 5 minutes “downtime” for each server.

  1. Fail!

Server is still down and has been for quite some time. Really helpful.

  2. Ed,

This was actually due to an unrelated issue, rather than the scheduled maintenance mentioned in this post. We’re extremely sorry for the outage, regardless of the cause.
